Description: 

The Therapeutic Aide plays a vital role in supporting students to stay focused on academic tasks and successfully transition between activities. This role involves helping students to maintain adequate behavior by assisting with the implantation of Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) to support positive student behavior and help students meet academic goals outlined in their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Additionally, Therapeutic Aides may be required to assisting students with toileting, changing, and personal care as needed.

Responsibilities:
-Support students in achieving academic success, including managing disruptive behaviors and providing physical intervention when necessary (training provided)
-Provide personal care, facilitate social integration, and ensure health and safety for student
-Assist with clothing, snack routines, toileting, and other personal care activities
-Collaborate closely with related service staff, behavior supervisors, teachers, and other team members
-Maintain professionalism in behavior, speech, attire, punctuality, and attendance
-Assist with transportation needs, including riding the bus with students when required
-Support classroom organization, management, and instructional strategies during in-person learning
-Monitor and redirect student behavior, providing remediation or intervention as needed
-Aid in student assessments by collecting data and sharing observations
-Assist with standardized testing following state and local policies
-Distribute food, supplies, materials, and technology
-Supervise student movement within the school, ensuring safety protocols are followed
-Help maintain cleanliness and sanitation in classrooms and cafeterias
-Facilitate safe student transitions between locations within the school
-Engage in ongoing professional development and training
-Maintain proactive communication with teachers and parents regarding student progress and concerns
-Perform additional duties as assigned by school administrators

Physical Requirements:
-Ability to restrain students when appropriate, following district procedures
-Ability to lift or assist in lifting non-ambulatory students
-Ability to lift and carry classroom supplies and equipment
-Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and sit or stand for extended periods
-Ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively with students and staff

Qualifications:
-Minimum age of 18 years
-Completion of CPI training and a minimum of 20 hours of specialized training, including behavior management and classroom procedures
-Health Physical or work release from physician within the last 2 years
-Social Security Card (or other acceptable document to establish Employment Authorization)
-State ID (or other acceptable document to establish identity)
-High school diploma or GED
-Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking Standard English
-Willingness to undergo fingerprinting and background checks
-Completion of CPI training and a minimum of 20 hours of specialized training, including behavior management and classroom procedures
-Demonstrated emotional maturity and a compassionate attitude toward working with children with disabilities
